Netflix has always been refusing to share its password, but no one listened. Since everything in India is run by jugaad, people share their password with friend and then friend’s friend and others. But now your jugaad is going to end very soon. Streaming platform, Netflix has already confirmed this. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said that for the first time in 100 days, Netflix lost two lakh subscribers. For this reason, the company’s share prices have also come down to the lowest level ever.
Reason for Password Sharing The company has told the reason
For the decrease in subscribers to the password sharing business. Netflix said in a note to shareholders earlier this week, “Netflix’s sharing option has definitely added to our growth by adding more people.”
We’ve always made sharing options even easier by providing features like profiles and multiple streams . Now that these have been very popular, they have created confusion about when and how Netflix can be shared with other households.”
Can there be some changes
Netflix has been working on cracking the password sharing business for a long time. Last month, the streaming platform announced that users in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru would have to pay extra for sharing passwords while still living in a home. It is believed that the same strategy will now be applicable in other places including India. In the coming days, Netflix can implement this to get its users back. The CEO of the company has already indicated this by bringing ads on the platform. After years of refusing to bring commercials to Netflix, Hastings revealed during a recent call that the company is open to offering lower prices with advertising as a consumer choice.
Can bring cheap plans
Netflix is one of the most expensive streaming platforms in the country right now. This is the reason Hastings wants to bring a cheaper plan. Netflix currently offers four subscription plans in India, each of which allows select users to access the platform simultaneously at the same time. Users can create their personal account on the platform, but the number depends on the plan taken by them. The mobile plan comes with one screen support at Rs 149 per month. The same basic plan is of Rs 199. While the standard plan comes for Rs 499 and the premium plan for Rs 649. In which 2 and 4 screens can be shared. Apart from the mobile plan, other users can stream anything they want on the big screen.
