The Railway Ministry had launched Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) in the year 2023 and till now 1321 out of total 7000 stations have been selected for redevelopment under it. All these stations are in different railway zones and New Delhi Railway Station is one of them. Many of these stations are in various stages of development but work is yet to begin on some stations.
New Delhi Station Closed: For the past several days, news of complete closure of New Delhi Railway Station has been circulating in the main media and social media. It is being said that the station is being completely closed for renovation and there is a plan to run all the trains running from here from other stations. But now a clarification has come from the Indian Railways regarding this. Responding to these reports, Northern Railway has said that the media report regarding closure of New Delhi Railway Station for renovation under Amrit Bharat Scheme is completely baseless. And it is confusing. Railways has completely rejected all such reports.
Railways said, no such plan
“With regard to the news of closure of New Delhi Railway Station, it is clarified that there is no immediate plan to stop train operations at the station,” said Deepak Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway.
According to Kumar, “Some news websites are running reports that Railways will stop operations from New Delhi station and they will be shifted to other stations in the national capital. Such news is misleading and may cause confusion to the common people.
Railway Ministry also clarified
The Railway Ministry has also issued a clarification in this regard, which states, “It has been reported in some sections of the media that New Delhi Railway Station will be closed by the end of this year for redevelopment work. It is declared that New Delhi Railway Station will never be closed.
It also says, “It is to be noted that when a railway station is redeveloped, some trains are diverted or regulated as per requirement. Such diversion/regulation of trains is informed in advance. Is given.”
Stations are being developed under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The Railway Ministry had launched Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) in the year 2023, and till now 1321 out of total 7000 stations have been selected for redevelopment under it. All these stations are in different railway zones and New Delhi Railway Station is one of them.
Although many of these stations are in various stages of development, work is yet to begin on some stations. The objective of this scheme is to improve passenger amenities in view of the increasing number of passengers over the last few years.
A railway official said, “Since redevelopment work is going on at many places, there is speculation that New Delhi station will be closed for redevelopment, which is wrong. There are no such plans as of now.” It has to be redeveloped, but it will be done in such a way that the common people do not face any problem.”
