In order to prevent increasing pollution, the Central Air Quality Management Commission in Delhi has issued new guidelines and imposed strict conditions on the use of generators.

New Delhi: In order to prevent increasing pollution, the Central Air Quality Management Commission in Delhi has issued new guidelines and imposed strict conditions on the use of generators. Under the new rule, generators up to 800 kilowatts will be allowed for industrial and commercial use only when those generators run on both gas and diesel. This new rule will be implemented in Delhi from May 15 onwards.

Know what’s in the new guidelines

Significantly, there is a huge amount of pollution from diesel generator sets. One of the reasons for increasing pollution in Delhi is the use of diesel generator sets in large numbers. The Central Air Quality Management Commission has issued a new guideline saying that after May 15, generators up to 800 kW will be allowed for industrial and commercial use only when they run on dual fuel i.e. gas and diesel.

Only this type of generator is allowed

In Delhi, now only generators running on both gas and diesel will be allowed, whereas at the time of implementation of grep, restrictions will remain applicable on them as before. When grep is implemented in the capital Delhi during winter, there is a complete ban on the use of diesel generator sets, because diesel generator sets pollute a lot.

In the permission given by the commission to dual fuel generator sets, dual fuel refers to 70 percent gas and 30 percent diesel generators. In the new guidelines issued by the commission, it has been clearly stated that uncontrolled use of DG sets is a cause of concern in terms of pollution.

It has also been said by the commission that apart from grapes, a large number of DG sets are used and if control measures are not taken on the emissions coming out of them, then there is heavy pollution in them.
