In an internal circular dated October 8, the IT Department said that the existing Integrated e-Filing and Centralized Processing Center 2.0 will stop working. It will be replaced by the new system IEC 3.0.

It will now be more convenient for taxpayers to file ITR than before. In fact, the Income Tax Department is going to make the process of filing ITR easier and faster by launching the new e-filing portal 3.0 soon. With the help of the new portal, taxpayers will be able to file their returns in less time than before.

In an internal circular dated October 8, the IT Department said that the existing Integrated e-Filing and Centralized Processing Center 2.0 will stop working. It will be replaced by the new system IEC 3.0.

How will it help taxpayers?

According to the internal circular, the new IEC project will help in e-filing. This portal will allow taxpayers to electronically file their income tax returns, submit forms and avail many other services. The new e-filing platform will also provide a back-office portal, which will be used by field officers to access taxpayers’ return files and processing data.

The circular further states that Project IEC 3.0 not only enhances the services provided by Project IEC 2.0, but it will also provide a secure and user-friendly environment.

Many times technical problems have to be faced in the existing IEC 2.0 system. For example, as the last date for filing ITR approaches, the speed of the portal becomes very slow due to increased traffic. So many times the site crashes, due to which taxpayers face difficulties in filing returns. And due to this many taxpayers are not able to file their returns on time. The new system will be easy to use, faster and safer than before.
