New Liquor Policy: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has made a big change in the Liquor policy. In the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday evening under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the proposal of the new excise policy was approved. Under this, licenses for composite shops will be issued for the first time in the state. That is, now beer, desi and English liquor can be sold from the same shop. However, there will be no arrangement for drinking alcohol in the composite shop.
According to sources, for the year 2025-26, the license of retail shops of desi-foreign liquor, beer, cannabis will be through e-lottery. There will be no renewal of old licenses in this financial year. There will be a provision for renewal of shops from 2026-27. There has been no change in the license fee for premium retail shops. The shop can be renewed with an annual fee of Rs 25 lakh. Not only this, this time the government has set a target of collecting revenue of 55 thousand crores from the excise department, which is 4 thousand crores more than last time.
Foreign liquor will also be available in 60 and 90 ML bottles
Under the new policy, foreign liquor will now also be available in 60 and 90 ml bottles. Apart from this, now premium brand shops will not open in the multiplex area of ​​​​malls. Premium retail shops can be opened in the main building at airports, metro and railway stations with a No Objection Certificate. Not only this, the compulsion of the main gate being inside the building has also been abolished.
