New Liquor Policy: Some important decisions related to the Excise Department can be taken in the next cabinet meeting of the Uttar Pradesh government. In this meeting, a proposal to increase the price of liquor can be approved, which can affect the pockets of liquor lovers.

Important decisions can be taken regarding the policies of the Excise Department in the next cabinet meeting of the Uttar Pradesh government. The proposal has been sent to the government from the Excise Department. The government can make a new excise system. This can increase the prices of liquor in UP. What will be the impact of this decision of the government on liquor traders?

What are the possibilities in this excise policy?

Government sources say that to give relief to liquor traders, the government will not make any significant changes in the new policy and may allow renewal of old licenses. This is the reason why retail liquor traders are demanding renewal of their licenses at the state level.

Old policy may change

The Excise Department of the Uttar Pradesh government has planned to implement e-tendering in place of renewal of old licenses to increase revenue. The new policy may be brought late, so the old policy can be brought again with some changes. Strict penalties can be imposed on illegal liquor sales and liquor prices may increase if this policy is implemented. This time the old policy will be presented with only partial changes.

Excise policy is presented in December or January till now

The government has been presenting the new excise policy in December or January for the new financial year, but this time due to the busyness of Maha Kumbh, it has not happened yet. In such a situation, the government can renew the old licenses in a hurry, without the need for any major changes.

Most income to the government

The department that gives the highest revenue in the Uttar Pradesh government is the Excise Department. The Excise Department in Uttar Pradesh has given licenses to 29,000 retail liquor shops in the current financial year. There are 5,900 beer, 16,400 desi and 6,700 English shops. The government had given the Excise Department a target of collecting revenue of Rs 58,310 crore, but till last December the department had collected revenue of Rs 3983.22 crore. The department hopes to meet the target by the end of the financial year. Now the new budget of the state is going to come soon. In view of this, the Excise Department is busy making new policy.
