The Finance Ministry has announced relief to those companies and businessmen who did not file GST returns and due to this their GST registration was cancelled. Now these people can get their GST registration restored by June 30.
Will have to repay the loan, have to pay interest-penalty
It has been made clear by the Finance Ministry that to cancel the process of registration cancellation, people will have to pay their outstanding tax, interest amount and penalty. The Finance Ministry has also amended the Central GST Act for this.
Cancellation happened before 31 December
It has been clarified by the Finance Ministry that this relief will be given only to those people whose GST cancellation happened before December 31, 2022, and those who could not apply for restoration of registration within the stipulated time limit.
Facility will be available only after filing pending return
It has also been clearly stated in the notification of the Ministry of Finance that to cancel the cancellation, companies and businessmen will have to file the pending return first. Along with this, late fee, interest, penalty etc. related to this return will also have to be paid.
Date will not extend further
Along with this, one more thing has been emphasized in the notification that in such cases, the last date to cancel the process of registration cancellation is June 30 only. It will not be extended any further.
