New Telecom Act will come into effect from June 26

New Telecom Act: The new Telecommunication Act 2023 is coming into force from 26 June. According to the Gazette notification, the central government has fixed the date of 26 June 2024, on which the provisions of several sections 1 2 10 to 30 42 to 44 46 47 50 to 58 61 and 62 of this new Act will come into force. The government will get new power with the new Act.

New Telecom Act: New Telecom ActThe Telecommunication Act 2023 is coming into force from June 26, 2024. The new law will repeal the existing legislative framework such as the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 and the Indian Wireless Telegraph Act, 1933 due to technical advancement in the telecom sector and technology.

Telecommunication Act 2023 will come into force from June 26

According to the Gazette notification, some provisions including sections 1, 2, 10 and 30 of the new Telecom Act will come into force from June 26.

According to this notification, the central government has fixed the date of 26 June 2024, on which the provisions of many sections 1, 2, 10 to 30, 42 to 44, 46, 47, 50 to 58, 61 and 62 of this new Act will come into force.

Government will get power with the new law

The question is what major changes will be seen with the implementation of the new Telecom Act. Actually, with the new law, the government will have the right to take full control of telecommunication service and network in its hands in any situation of emergency.

According to the gadget notification, this will be done by the government on the basis of security, public order or prevention of crimes.

According to the gadget notification, telecommunication is a powerful tool for empowerment of the public. However, its tool can also be misused to harm the users.

The new Act introduces measures to protect citizens from unwanted commercial communications. Along with this, a good system has been made for redressal of complaints.

According to the Telecommunication Act 2023, telecom players who want to operate telecommunication networks or provide services will have to be authorized by the government.
