Traffic Challan: The government is going to make new traffic rules. These rules are going to be heavy on those who do not pay the traffic challan. The government is now going to be strict on those who do not pay the challan. If you break the traffic rules and get an e-challan (online traffic fine), then it will be necessary to pay it quickly. If you do not follow the traffic rules and postpone the payment of the challan, then now problems may increase for you. If the challan is not paid within 90 days i.e. three months, then your driving license (DL) can be suspended. Not only this, if someone has three challans in a year for jumping red light or driving at speed, then their license can be confiscated for at least three months.

Insurance of those with pending challans will be expensive

The government plans to make the insurance of vehicles of those who have at least two challans pending from last year expensive. Meaning, if you do not pay the challan on time, then you may have to pay more money for getting the vehicle insured in future.

New rule regarding e-challan payment

The government is now bringing some new rules to make the process of paying the challan more sure and easy. You will get a notice within 3 days of challan being issued. After receiving the notice, the challan has to be paid within 30 days or you can file a complaint. If no response is given for 30 days, it will be considered that the mistake is yours. If the challan is not paid for 90 days, the driving license (DL) or the vehicle registration certificate (RC) will be suspended. If you feel that the challan has been issued wrongly, then you can file a complaint online. A decision will be taken on this within 30 days, otherwise the challan will be cancelled automatically.

Which states are behind in paying e-challan?

In many states of the country, people are being careless in paying the challan. In Delhi, only 14% challans are paid. This figure is 21% in Karnataka, 27% in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh and 29% in Odisha. At the same time, the rate of challan payment in Rajasthan, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Haryana is between 62% to 76%.

Updating address and mobile number will be mandatory

Many times people change their address and mobile number and the message of traffic challan does not reach them. To solve this problem, the government is going to give 3 months time, so that every vehicle owner can update his correct mobile number and address. After this, without updating the mobile number, PUC (Pollution Certificate) will not be available. Vehicle insurance will not be renewed. Driving license and vehicle registration will also not be possible.
