Scrappage policy applicable
The government has ordered to compulsorily dispose of vehicles older than 15 years under the scrappage policy. This applies to both private and government vehicles and their registration will be cancelled. Vehicles older than 15 years can be taken to a government registered scrapping centre, where they will be scrapped and given a certificate. The owner will also get subsidy and waiver on registration amount while buying a new car. In UP, 15 years old vehicles will be scrapped at the rate of Rs 22 per kg.
Car price hike
From April 1, due to general inflationary pressure and RDE norms, buying cars of many car companies including Maruti Suzuki, Honda Cars, Mercedes-Benz, Tata Motors will become more expensive. Some two-wheeler models will also become costlier due to the change in engine and raw material. Hero MotoCorp has already announced in this regard.
10,000 Challan
There will be changes in traffic rules as well. Fine will be deducted directly from account for breaking traffic rules in Delhi-NCR. Strict lane rules will also be applicable for private buses and goods carriers in Delhi and violators will be fined heavily. Violation of certain rules can lead to a fine of up to Rs 10,000 or imprisonment of up to 6 months. Action will be taken against those who break the rules under Section 192-A of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988.
