Vande Bharat Train: Odisha is going to get the second Vande Bharat Express train. Complete testing of the state’s second Vande Bharat Express was conducted on Wednesday. Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express train left Puri station at 5 am and reached Bhubaneswar at 6.05 am and left for onward journey five minutes later.
After stopping for some time at Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, it reached Sambalpur at 10.15 am. Officials said that the time of arrival of the semi-high speed train at its destination Rourkela is 12:45 pm. It was told that earlier, a trial run was taken between Puri and Talcher Road stations.
On its return journey, the train will leave Rourkela at 2.10 pm and reach Puri at 9.40 pm, covering the distance in 7.5 hours, officials said. This train will connect the coastal districts of the state with its western region.
These will be the stoppages.
There will be a total of ten stoppages of the train. These include Puri, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kerezanga, Sambalpur city, Jharsuguda and Rourkela. The stopping period for this Vande Bharat Express at each station is two minutes. Only in Bhubaneswar it will stop for five minutes. The train is expected to run six days a week except Saturday. PM Modi can officially flag off this train by the end of September 2023.
Odisha’s first Vande Bharat Express train:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off Odisha’s first Vande Bharat Express train in May this year. That train runs between Puri and Howrah. It started on 20 May. This train covers the distance of 500 km between Howrah and Puri in about six and a half hours.
