Vande Bharat Express: A Vande Bharat semi-high speed express train will be introduced soon on the Mumbai-Goa route. A delegation of MLAs from Maharashtra met Union Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve on February 3. In this meeting, the Union Minister told a delegation of legislators that a Vande Bharat semi-high speed express train would be run between Mumbai and Goa.
Danve said that this express train will be operated between Mumbai and Goa on the lines of the recently introduced trains on Mumbai-Shirdi and Mumbai-Solapur routes. The minister informed the delegation that electrification of Mumbai-Goa rail route has been completed and new train service will be started after inspection. The delegation discussed several issues related to Railways in Thane and Konkan region with the Minister during the meeting.
Meanwhile, allotment of stalls to the persons affected by the railway project or their relatives, mobile stalls at each railway station for farmers, raising the height of platforms to reduce the gap between them and trains, to prevent flooding due to railway bridges. Issues like taking measures were discussed.
Thane’s Mumbra station should be renamed as Mumbra Devi station
The delegation discussed with Danve the issue of extending Sawantwadi-Diva train service up to Dadar, rehabilitation of those living along railway tracks under the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) scheme and other issues. The legislators also demanded that Thane’s Mumbra station be renamed as Mumbra Devi station. Danve assured them that action would be taken after the state government submitted a proposal to this effect.
Let me tell you, right now the maximum number of Vande Bharat Express trains are near Delhi and Mumbai. Currently three Vande Bharat Express trains connect Mumbai. These include Gandhinagar Capital-Mumbai Central, Mumbai-Shirdi and Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat Express trains.
After the commencement of Vande Bharat Express on the Goa-Mumbai route, Mumbai will have more Vande Bharat Express trains than Delhi. Near Delhi are New Delhi-Varanasi, New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and New Delhi-Amb Andaura Vande Bharat Express.
