New Vande Bharat Train: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit Tripura next month. During this, he will flag off the Vande Bharat Express between Agartala and Guwahati. The Northeast Frontier Railway has given the green signal for a semi-high speed train connecting these 2 major cities daily. According to the report, the state government has contacted the Prime Minister’s Office for their availability to inaugurate India’s fastest train.
NFR has almost completed the work of railway line electrification in Tripura and Assam to ensure super-fast train service from Tripura. At present, premier trains like Tejas Express from Agartala to Delhi and Humsafar to Bangalore are operating with diesel engines. Apart from this, some other express trains connecting many other cities are also running.
Know the timing and distance
The report said that Vande Bharat Express will cover a distance of 571 km between Agartala and Guwahati. This journey will be completed in 7 and a half hours. The train will stop at Ambassa, Dharmanagar in Tripura and New Karimganj, Badarpur Junction and Hojai in Assam. Sources said that the train will start every day at 6 am and reach Guwahati at 1.30 pm. The return journey will start from Guwahati at 2 pm and reach Agartala at 9.30 pm.
Transport officials said, At present, trains take 12 hours to reach Guwahati from Agartala through diesel engines. It takes 6 hours to cover a distance of about 160 km from Badarpur to Lumding through the hilly parts of South Assam. After putting the trains on electric lines, the time coverage will be halved, which will increase the trade of the northeastern states with Tripura instead of focusing on Guwahati.
