The Indian Railways is aiming to run 75 new Vande Bharat trains by August 15 next year. Therefore, the construction of these trains has been expedited. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in the Union Budget 2022, had announced that India will manufacture 400 Vande Bharat trains over the next three years.
New Delhi: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday flagged off the inaugural run of the new Vande Bharat Express from Amb Andaura, Una to New Delhi, India is set to get its fifth one next month. The Vande Bharat train will make its southern debut on November 10, when a 5th such train will be launched between Chennai-Bengaluru and Mysuru.
“One rake of Vande Bharat train has been allotted to Southern Railway. The rake will be introduced in train service between MAS-MYS from 10.11.2022 onwards, Southern Railway said in a circular dated October 14.
After the launch of India’s first Semi High-Speed Train ‘Vande Bharat Express’ in 2019 on the New Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Varanasi route, PM Modi inaugurated the 4th such train on Thursday. The 4th Vande Bharat Express, launched between Himachal Pradesh and New Delhi, will reduce the travel time from Una to the national capital by two hours.
It is worth mentioning here that the Indian Railways is aiming to run 75 new Vande Bharat trains by August 15 next year. Therefore, the construction of these trains has been expedited as the target of the Railways is that seven to eight trains should be ready every month.
PM Modi had last month launched an upgraded version of the express train, equipped with world-class passenger amenities, between Gujarat’s Gandhinagar and Mumbai central on 30 September.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in the Union Budget 2022, had announced that India will manufacture 400 Vande Bharat new energy-efficient trains over the next three years. The express trains are capable of achieving high speeds due to faster acceleration and deceleration and will reduce journey time by 25 per cent to 45 per cent.
