The Centre’s Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DOPPW), in collaboration with the country’s largest bank State Bank of India (SBI), will create a ‘Unified Pension Portal’ to make the lives of pensioners easier. This information was given by an official statement on Tuesday.

During the two-day awareness program of bank employees in Udaipur, Rajasthan, sessions were organized on pension policy reform and digitization related to pension distribution to central government pensioners with the aim of making SBI officers aware of things. .
Special session on digital tools
The Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions said in a statement that special sessions were held on Income Tax matters relating to pensioners as well as digital means of submission of Annual Life Certificates.
Unified Pension Portal is needed
According to the statement, it was decided that there is an urgent need to create a unified pension portal by linking the existing portals of DoPPW and SBI to provide seamless services to the pensioners.

The ‘face authentication technology’ for digital life certificates may be widely advertised by banks, the statement said. According to the statement, these programs are expected to go a long way in making the life of the pensioners easier.
However, it has to be seen by when the Unified Pension Portal can be started and what facilities will be available to the pensioners with its help. But, the Pension and Pensioners Welfare Department of the government has definitely stepped up in this direction. Due to this the expectations of pensioners have also increased.
