NPS New Rule: NPS rule will change again! Employees will get security like OPS, old pension rules will be applicable

NPS New Rule : NPS cases will be settled on the lines of the old pension system. With this step, NPS members will not face any delay in getting pension.

NPS New Rule: The Central Pension Accounting Office (CPO) of the government has issued new guidelines for timely payment of pension to retired government employees under the National Pension Scheme (NPS). Under this, NPS cases will be settled on the lines of the old pension system. With this step, NPS members will not face any delay in getting pension.

Many government and private sector employees coming under NPS had complained that they were not getting pension on time. The main reason for the delay was the complexity in the process, lack of documents and lack of coordination between various departments. Taking these problems seriously, the Central Pension Accounting Office has prepared a comprehensive plan, which suggests adopting processes like Old Pension System (OPS).

That’s why there is delay

The Pension Accounting Office has issued new instructions to ensure timely pension payment. The CPAO has reminded the officers involved in the pension process to follow the procedures prescribed for OPS. This instruction was also given earlier on 18 December 2023. Despite this, some pay and accounts offices are still handling pension cases incorrectly. They are submitting temporary pension payment orders (PPO) with three copies, while only two PPOs are required. This is causing unnecessary delay in the pension process.

Officers warned

To streamline and expedite the pension distribution process, the CPAO has asked all the concerned officers to strictly follow the guidelines. These officers include Principal CCA, CCA, AG and authorized bank CPPC.

Matters will be settled fast

1. The CPAO has directed all the concerned departments to give priority to the pension process of NPS members and complete it within 30 days.

2. To speed up the pension process, all documents have been asked to be submitted online. This will enable tracking of their status.

3. The number of pension payment order books has been limited to two, to simplify the process.

4. A special task force has been formed to ensure better coordination among all departments and agencies.
