Candidates who do not have their own transport to reach the examination centre or accommodation, should enlist for availing the government transport and accommodation, said Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy.
The Odisha government has decided to facilitate transportation and accommodation for needy candidates appearing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2020 and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exams, the Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy informed on Friday.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had written to Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ as well as spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday for postponing the NEET and JEE exams. However, since there has not been any postponement and hardly 72 hours are left to the holding of the exams, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has swung into action to help the JEE and NEET applicants and has put his machinery into movement.
Floods are ravaging half of Odisha and there is no public transport due to this.
In total 37,000 candidates will be appearing for the JEE Mains for which there are 26 centres in seven cities of the state. Further, Chief Secretary said that candidates who do not have their own transport to reach the examination centre or accommodation, should enlist for availing the government transport and accommodation.
Here’s how students can avail the facilities:
Free accommodation for needy examinees will be arranged at polytechnic institutes, engineering colleges and ITIs, Tripathy said. He urged aspirants to share details on the number of nodal ITI principals. The government will provide buses to ferry candidates from their home town to the designated entrance venue

For each district one ITI has been declared as a nodal centre. Besides, the concerned administration have been asked to make free accommodation arrangement for needy examinees at different government institutions.
Speaking to India Today TV, Rajya Sabha MP Amar Patnaik said, “Our CM has always been cognisant of the problems faced by people of Odisha. In this case, children were getting affected as they had to travel from interior areas to examination centres.”
The district administrations have also been advised to facilitate the movement of candidates and their parents without any hindrance. Candidates and their parents can move freely for the exams by just showing the admit card of the exams.
As per the schedule, the JEE Main examination will be held between September 1 and 6 and NEET 2020 on September 13.
