A note on the passport service portal said, “The Passport Seva Portal will be closed for technical maintenance from 29 August 2024, Thursday 20:00 hrs IST to 2 September, Monday 06:00 hrs IST. The system will not be available to citizens and all MEA/RPO/BOI/ISP/DoP/Police officials during this period. Appointments already booked for 30 August 2024 will be rescheduled appropriately and applicants will be informed.”

Appointments will be rescheduled
The Ministry of External Affairs said that this is a regular process. A source in the ministry said, “We already have plans to reschedule appointments. Maintenance activities for public setrink services (such as passport seva kendras) are always scheduled in advance so that people do not face any inconvenience. Therefore, rescheduling the appointment will not be a challenge.”
