In August this year, the aviation minister of Pakistan had said that 262 pilots had obtained licenses through fake documents.

Airlines operating from Pakistan (Pakistani) can be banned for flying in 188 countries. The ban could be due to the pilot license scam and non-compliance with international standards according to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This has been said in Pakistani media reports. Explain that an investigation conducted in Pakistan in the past found that one-third of its pilots had shown wrong information and papers related to their qualifications.

According to the report of Pakistan’s English newspaper Express Tribune, Britain and European Union have already banned Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights due to license scam. In August this year, the aviation minister of Pakistan said that 262 pilots had obtained licenses through fake documents. Out of this, 146 pilots belong to PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) only.

After the matter came to light, the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) in its 12th session of 179 session approved a mechanism for the important safety concerns of its member states i.e. SSC (Significant Safety Concerns). After this, the ICAO gave a serious warning to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) on the issue of security.

In a letter sent on November 3, the ICAO stated that the PCAA had failed to follow the international standard of training involving personal licensing and pilot licensing procedures. As a result of this letter, it is believed that airlines operating from Pakistan can be stopped from flying in 188 countries. In May this year, a Pakistan International Airlines plane crashed in Karachi. 97 people were killed in this accident.

After Bain’s warning, a spokesperson of the Pakistan Airlines Pilots Association (Palpa) says that the consequences will be severe. If the ban applies, it will be like a disaster on Pakistan’s aviation industry. The spokesman said that Palpa (Pakistan Airlines Pilots Association) has been continuously raising the issue since June 2020 but unfortunately the authorities concerned are not paying attention to it.

An investigation into the death of 97 people due to a plane crash in Karachi on 22 May revealed that 260 out of 860 pilots in Pakistan had cheated in their pilot examination, but the Civil Aviation Authority still gave them licenses. The government of Pakistan has fired four officials of the regulatory agency and the culprits are being prosecuted.
