Recently, while launching the e-Gopala app, PM Modi mentioned the animal Aadhaar number. During this, he said, if the work of putting animal base (Pashu Aadhaar) in this app will be completed, then all the information about the animals will be easily obtained. Buying and selling animals will be easy. In such a situation, let us know what is the animal base? Actually, the tagging of animals is their Pashu Aadhar Card. Now a unique identification number will be issued for every cow and buffalo across the country. As a result, cattlemen will be able to get information about their animals sitting at home through software. Apart from this, other work including vaccination, breed improvement program, medical aid will also be easily done.
Significantly, a huge database related to livestock information is being prepared in India. The government is trying to double farmers’ income through livestock. According to the Central Animal Husbandry Department, in the next year and a half, about 50 crore cattle will be given a unique ID (Animal UID-Pashu Aadhaar) on digital platform to find out their owner, their breed and productivity. For this, a yellow tag weighing 8 grams will be placed in the ears of the cattle. A 12-digit Aadhaar number will be printed on the same tag.
First 300 million cows and buffaloes will be tagged
According to media reports, the Minister of State for Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Sanjeev Balayan, has told that the Aadhaar card of about 4 crore cows, buffaloes has been prepared while there are more than 30 crore cows in the country. They will be tagged by running campaigns. After this, the basis of sheep, goats etc. will also be formed. This card will include unique number, owner’s details and information on animal vaccination and breeding.
