To apply for passport online, follow the following steps:
Step 1: Go to Passport Seva website
First of all, you have to visit the Passport Seva website. The website link is: https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/
Step 2: Register yourself
After visiting the website, you have to register yourself. For this, you have to click on the “New User Registration” link.
Step 3: Fill in your information
After registering, you will have to fill your information. This includes your personal information, Aadhaar card information, and selecting the passport office.
Step 4: Fill the passport application form
After filling your information, you have to fill the passport application form. This includes your family information, educational qualifications, and employment information.
Step 5: Pay Passport Fee
After filling the passport application form, you have to pay the passport fee. You can pay the fee through any mode, online or offline.
Step 6: Book an Appointment
After paying the passport fee, you will need to book an appointment. To book an appointment, you have to click on the “Appointment” link.
Step 7: Visit Passport Office and submit documents
At the time of appointment, you will have to go to the passport office and submit the documents. Documents include:
- Passport application form
- Passport fee receipt
- Photocopy of Aadhar Card
- Photocopy of birth certificate
- Photocopy of residence certificate
- Passport size photo
Step 8: Get a passport
After submitting the documents, you will have to wait for some time to receive the passport. The validity of normal passport is 10 years.

Passport application fees
Passport application fees vary depending on age and type of application. The fee for applying for a normal passport is Rs 1500.
Validity of passport
The validity of normal passport is 10 years. The validity of passport for minors under 18 years of age is 5 years. Minors aged 15-18 years can take a passport with validity of 10 years. Additionally, they can choose a passport that remains valid until they turn 18.
