Passport Service : India Post is now providing the facility of passport registration and passport application in many post offices across the country and for this you have to go to the common service center of the post office where you can apply for passport.
New Delhi: If you are planning to go abroad then passport is an important and mandatory document. To get a passport, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has opened Passport Seva Kendras across the country, where you can get a passport made. Now the way to get a passport has become easier. Now to get a passport, you will not have to go to the Passport Seva Center, but you can also apply for your passport by visiting your nearest post office.

Go to the nearest post office
India Post gave information about this new service through a post on its official Twitter handle. It was told in the tweet that now it has become easy to register and apply for passport at the CSC counter of the post office and for more information you can visit your nearest post office. After the introduction of this facility, the process of getting a passport will become easier than before.
Can apply online
passportindia.gov.in . According to this, you can apply online for getting a passport. After this, you will have to take the receipt of the application to the post office. To apply for passport, you will need to be present in the post office yourself. Along with the print out of the receipt of the application, you will also have to take all the necessary documents to the post office. For your information, let us tell you that you cannot apply for a passport in the Passport Office, but for this you have to go to the Passport Seva Kendra or the Post Office Passport Seva Center.
Documents required for a fresh passport
- Photo passbook of running bank account in any public sector bank, private sector bank and regional rural banks
- A voter ID card
- Aadhaar card
- Electricity bill
- Rent agreement
- Driving license
- PAN card
- Landline or postpaid mobile bill
- Proof of gas connection
- Spouse’s passport copy (First and last page of the passport that includes the details of the family and mentions applicants name as the spouse of the passport holder)
- Certificate from employer of reputed companies on letterhead.
- Income Tax assessment order
- School leaving certificate
- Birth certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation
- Policy Bond issued by the Public Life Insurance Corporations/Companies having the DOB of the holder of the insurance policy
Documents required for minors fresh passport
- Parents original and self-attested copies of the passport should be carried
Proof of current address in the parent’s name - Photo passbook of running bank account in any public sector bank, private sector bank and regional rural banks
- Birth certificate
- Policy Bond issued by the Public Life Insurance Corporations/Companies having the DOB of the holder of the insurance policy
- Aadhaar card or e-Aadhaar
- PAN Card
- School leaving certificate/ Secondary school leaving certificate
- School or university 10th standard mark’s card
Documents required for re-issue of passport
All the documents are mandatory:
- Old original passport
Self-attested photocopy of:
- The first two and last two pages
- ECR/Non-ECR page
- Page of validity extension (if any)
- Page of observation (if any) made by Passport Issuing Authority
- No Objection Certificate (NOC)/Prior Intimation Letter (PI)
Note: Original documents must also be produced at the counter, which will be returned after verification.
