New Delhi. Applications for Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) of passport can now be made at Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK). Police Clearance Certificate is a mandatory document for passport application. It is issued by the local police station according to the residential address of the applicant and contains information about the criminal record of the applicant. When a person goes to another country for employment, tourism and stay, then he needs police verification.

From September 28, application for Police Clearance Certificate can be made online at Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK). Earlier, this facility was available only on the Government’s Passport Seva Portal or in the case of foreigners at the Indian Embassy/High Commission Office. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that the aim of this step is to provide the certificate without any delay.

The ministry said in its statement, “The action taken by the ministry in extending this PCC application facility to POPSK will not only help Indian nationals seeking employment abroad, but will also meet the demands of other PCC requirements. This will greatly facilitate those going abroad on education, long term visa and immigration.

How to Apply Police Clearance Certificate for Passport Online?

Step-1: Visit the Passport Seva Online Portal.
Step-2: Log in to your account using your login credentials.
Step-3: Click on Apply for Police Clearance Certificate link available on the screen.
Step-4: Fill the form with the required details and click on submit.
Step-5: To make an appointment booking request, view the submitted applications, then click on the link “Pay & Schedule Appointment”.
Step-6: Pay the fee online through Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking and other modes to process your request.
Step-7: Save the application receipt for future use.
Step-8: Now, visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Regional Passport Office (RPO) where your appointment has been booked. Do not forget to carry all the required documents.

In this way passport can be made
Applications for passport can be made online through the Passport Seva Portal. To meet the demand for passport related services, the Ministry of External Affairs launched the Passport Seva Project (PSP) in May 2010. Issuance of a new passport usually takes 30 days under the ‘Normal’ category. However, if with Tatkal service, passport can be made in 1 to 3 days.
