PPO 12 digit unique number
If you make any mistake in giving PPO number, your pension may be stopped. Actually, it is a unique 12 digit number which helps the pensioner in getting pension. The first 5 digits of the 12 numbers are the code numbers of the PPO issuing authority. The sixth and seventh numbers indicate the year in which the PPO was issued. After this, the eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh numbers indicate the PPO number. The last twelfth digit represents the check digit.

How to find PPO number
After registration on the CPAO website – www.cpao.nic.in by the pensioner, there is a facility to download the copy of PPO from CPAO through login and password. Pensioners can also find their PF number using the bank account number linked to EPF.
