‘Defence pensioners complete the annual identification process’
In fact, the Defense Ministry on Wednesday requested defense pensioners to complete their annual identification by May 25 to ensure smooth processing of monthly pension.
43 thousand pensioners have not done annual identification
According to the ministry, verification of the data received till Tuesday shows that 43,774 defense pensioners who opted for the online pension disbursement system ‘SPARSH’ have completed their annual identification neither online nor through their respective banks.
1.2 lakh old pensioners also did not identify
According to the ministry, “Furthermore, in case of old pensioners who retired before the year 2016 and were made on the old system of pension, it is informed that about 1.2 lakh pensioners have not completed their annual identification process by any means available.” ‘
There was delay in disbursement of monthly pension
Earlier this month, there was a delay in disbursement of monthly pension to 58,275 defense pensioners as their banks could not verify their annual identity till April 30.
On May 4, the Ministry of Defense had given a one-time special exemption to these 58,275 affected employees, saying that the pension for April would be deposited on the same day. However, the ministry had then asked these 58,275 pensioners to get their annual identification done by May 25.
