If a person is receiving pension of less than Rs. 15,000/- per month from the State Government/Public Sector Undertaking, then the pension eligibility under this scheme will be reduced by the pension received from the said institutions.
Pensioners Pension Hike: There is good news for the pensioners of Haryana. After increasing the amount of the old age pension scheme, the state’s Manohar Lal Khattar government has now given a big gift to the retired journalists, under this the state government has increased the monthly pension amount by approving the Digital Media Policy 2023 in the cabinet.
Cabinet approved this proposal
In fact, in the recent cabinet meeting chaired by Haryana CM Manohar Lal, another important decision was taken in the interest of media personnel. Under this, a proposal related to amendment in the pension scheme for recognized media persons above 60 years of age of the state has been approved. For this, Digital Media Policy has been approved. The CM has also approved the proposal to increase the insurance coverage of journalists from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. Now the state government will pay 100 percent of the insurance premium up to Rs 10 lakh.
Now Rs 15000 will come to your account instead of Rs 10000
After this decision, under the Journalist Pension Scheme already run by the state government, the pension of recognized media workers will be increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per month. However, in view of the demand of various journalist organizations, CM Manohar Lal had announced that he would give a monthly pension of Rs 11,000, but when this point was discussed in the state cabinet meeting, he was given information about the pension amount to be received in Punjab and Rajasthan. Was given, after which this amount was increased. At present the monthly pension available in Punjab is Rs 12000 and in Rajasthan it is Rs 14000.
These will be the rules and eligibility
- Media persons above 60 years of age with at least 20 years of experience in the field of journalism on salary/remuneration basis in the state are entitled to monthly pension under this scheme.
- The media person should be recognized by the Information, Public Relations, Language and Cultural Department, Haryana for at least five years.
- Media persons receiving any kind of pension or honorarium from any other state government or news organization will also be eligible. However, if any eligible media person is registered under the Haryana State/Central Government or any other

- Pension recipients under the scheme will be ineligible to receive old age honor allowance. Family identity card will be mandatory for media personnel receiving benefits under the scheme.
- If the pension seeking applicant is a resident of Haryana then he will have to submit photo copies of Aadhar Card and Family Identity Card and if the eligible applicant is not a resident of Haryana then he will have to submit photo copies of Aadhar Card along with Family Identity Card (Temporary).
- In case of demise of the beneficiary media person, half of the monthly pension amount will continue to be paid to his/her spouse, if he/she is not receiving any salary/contract fees/pension/remuneration from any other organization or Central/State Government/Public Sector Undertakings . Only one member of the family will be eligible for grant of monthly pension.
Recently the amount of old age pension scheme was also increased.
Let us tell you that recently on Tuesday, CM Manohar Lal Khattar had come to attend a ‘Jan Samvad’ program organized at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, where he had announced that the amount given under the Old Age Pension Scheme will soon be increased. It will be Rs 3,000 per month. At present ‘Old Age Honor Allowance’ is being given every month at Rs 2,750, which will increase to Rs 3000 in future. Senior citizens do not need to go through the hassle of applying for pension when they attain the age of 60 years as the pension starts automatically through ‘Parivar Pehchan Patra’.
