New Delhi: PF account is opened for almost every person employed. A fixed amount from the salary is deposited in this account. It is managed by EPFO. But if you have worked in more than one institution, then you may have more than one PF account. It is also necessary for you to merge them.
You can merge with UAN number
A UAN number is issued by EPFO to each PF account holder. Through this number you can merge more than one PF account. When you start a job in a new place, the new company asks you for your UAN, linking which it creates a new EPF account for you and then the EPF money is deducted from your salary. You can merge all the accounts with your UAN number so that your PF money keeps getting deposited in one account.
What is the complete process
To merge all the PF accounts, first you have to go to the EPFO website unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in. There you have to go to the Online Services tab and select the option of One Member-One EPF Account.
In the second step, you will see your personal details. It will also show the new account created by your current employer. Now to link the old account with the new account, you will have to get it attested from the old or new employer. After this, enter your old member ID, old PF account number and old UAN number and then click on Get Details.
In the third step, you have to click on Get OTP. OTP will come on your registered mobile number, enter it and submit. Your request will be submitted. Your current employer will have to approve it. After which EPFO will merge your old account with the new account. You will have to check your merger status later.
