Bengaluru: PhonePe users can now directly browse and access over 50 different apps and services such as Ola, redBus, Goibibo, Myntra, Delhi Metro app, Box8, Faasos, Grofers and others within its mobile app, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Labeled as “PhonePe Switch”, the new feature will serve as a one-click entry point to a new set of mobile apps apart from its own payment platform.
PhonePe has partnered with startups across food and grocery delivery, shopping and travel, mobility, and entertainment segment for the new feature and the company plans to have around 500 partner apps by end of this year.
Users can directly login to the partner app without downloading them, while PhonePe Switch also helps partners to offer exclusive offers and discounts to PhonePe users, the company added in its statement.
Any app or service provider who has either a mobile website or a progressive web app interface can use the same source code and integrate directly within our mobile app. The moment a user clicks on a partner app, the user can log in using credentials already saved within the PhonePe without having to go through registration,” said Rituraj Rautela, head of apps platform, PhonePe is an interview.
“PhonePe Switch emphasizes our efforts to build a partner app ecosystem which offers our users a very convenient way to access and engage with multiple apps. The Switch distribution platform has grown 400% in the last 6 months (of testing), enabling faster customer acquisition for our partners. While start-ups are able to acquire high-quality users at low costs, larger partners get help in specific areas like driving non-cash payments, growing their business in select geographies, etc.,” added Sameer Nigam, chief executive, of PhonePe in a statement.
Bengaluru-headquartered PhonePe currently claims to have over 150 million users. It allows users to send and receive money, recharge mobile, DTH accounts, data cards, make utility payments and buy gold online as well.
PhonePe’s new tie-up with startups in the consumer Internet segment will allow it to take on its competitors like Paytm, which previously launched a similar feature on its app.
Paytm had announced a partnership with Zomato in January which allows Paytm users to directly access Zomato’s complete app interface directly on Paytm. Apart from food delivery, Paytm also offers travel and event ticketing as well as online grocery deliveries. Paytm also has a separate e-commerce service under its Paytm Mall brand.
