Fintech company PhonePe has announced a partnership with LankaPay to enable UPI payments in Sri Lanka. This means that Indian tourists will now be able to easily make payments using UPI through PhonePe at LankaQR merchant points spread across Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) Governor Nandlal Wirasinghe said that this partnership can create new opportunities for Sri Lankan businessmen and also increase their competition.
