Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna Urban List: The Central Government has approved the construction of 16,488 houses in urban areas under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-U). So far, the total number of houses approved under this scheme has reached more than 1.13 crore. On Monday, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has given this information by issuing a statement. Recently, the 54th meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee under PMAY-U (PradhanMantri Awas Yojna-Urban) was held in New Delhi. 13 states and union territories participated in this meeting and a total of 708 proposals for housing construction were approved. In this, the central government includes housing construction for 3.61 lakh people. And now once again the approval of 16,488 has been added to it.
Government giving importance to providing pucca house
With the aim of fulfilling the dreams of ‘Apna Ghar’ for the families of weaker sections, the Central Government had launched the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, under which lakhs of people of the country have built or bought their homes. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, a grant is given by the government to make people from economically weaker sections.
Under PM Awas Yojana, these houses are constructed as affordable housing under the leadership of the applying beneficiaries according to them and with their participation. On behalf of the ministry, it has been said that the central government is giving due importance to the objective of providing pucca houses to all the eligible beneficiaries of urban India by 2022 with a view to ‘Housing for All’. In this sequence, construction of 16,488 houses has been approved.
