New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, more than three crore houses have been completed so far and these houses equipped with basic facilities have become a symbol of women empowerment.
So far more than 3 crore pucca houses have been constructed
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban was launched in June 2015, while Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin was launched in November 2016, with the objective of providing “Housing for All” with basic amenities by the year 2022 by the Central Government.
The Prime Minister tweeted, ‘We have set an important stage in the resolve to provide pucca house to every poor of the country. The construction of more than three crore houses has been possible only with the participation of the people. These houses with basic facilities have also become a symbol of women empowerment today.

According to this, the construction of 2.52 crore pucca houses has been completed so far under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural, while the construction of 58 lakh pucca houses has been completed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban.
Referring to the features of these schemes, the Prime Minister said that there is a provision for joint ownership or joint ownership in the name of the female member of the household. He informed that toilets, kitchen, electricity and water facilities have also been provided in every house.
