PM Awas Yojana: The third term of PM Narendra Modi has started. The first meeting was held on Monday in which decisions related to the needs of farmers and common people were taken. On the one hand, the 17th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi was released, while on the other hand, the plan to build 3 crore houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) was approved in the cabinet meeting. PMAY was started with the aim that everyone in the country should have a pucca house. Let us tell you who can take advantage of this scheme and what is the way to apply.

Know what is PM Housing Scheme

The government launched PMAY in June 2015. This scheme is run in both rural and urban India. In rural India, it is run as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) and in cities it is run as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U). Under the PM Awas Yojana, the government provides subsidy on home loans. The amount of subsidy depends on the size of the house and income. Under this scheme, banks are encouraged to provide home loans at low interest rates. The maximum repayment period for home loans under the scheme is 20 years. Statistics show that in the last 10 years, more than 4.1 crore houses have been built under PMAY.

Who can take advantage of this scheme

People whose annual income is up to Rs 18 lakh can take advantage of this scheme. People associated with EWS whose annual income is less than Rs 3 lakh are also eligible for this scheme. To take advantage of the scheme, the applicant must be 18 years of age. Also, it is necessary to be a citizen of India. But keep in mind that the benefit of the scheme can be availed only if you do not already have a permanent house. Even if someone in the family has a government job, the benefit of this scheme cannot be availed. Apart from this, the benefit of this scheme will not be available to those families who are taking advantage of any housing scheme of the Government of India or the State Government.

The benefits of the scheme can be availed both online and offline. To apply online, you will have to visit the official website of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana https://pmaymis.gov.in/ . For offline application, you will have to go to the nearest Common Service Center. Some documents will also be required while applying such as identity card, address proof, income proof, passport size photo and property documents.
