New Delhi: Millions of families have been torn apart due to corona virus infection. Many children have lost their parents. To help such children, the government has launched ‘PM Cares for Children Scheme’. Under this, children get a stipend of Rs 2,000. But now the government is going to increase this amount to Rs 4000. The Union Cabinet will make its official announcement in the next few weeks.
PM Cares for Children Scheme
On May 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the facility of education and medical insurance to such children under the PM Cares for Children scheme with an assistance amount of Rs. Now a big decision can be taken to increase the assistance amount under this scheme.
A senior official familiar with the matter said that the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development has proposed to increase the stipend to Rs 4,000 to such orphaned children. Along with this, he told that it can be approved by the cabinet in the next few weeks.
So far 3250 people have applied
According to the data given by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the Central Government has so far received 3250 applications for PM Cares for Children from 467 districts. Out of these, the district authorities of various states have approved 667 applications. Scrutiny of rest of the applications is currently in process. That is, now applications have started coming to the government.
PM announced on 29th May
1. The government will give a monthly stipend till the age of 18 years to the children who lose their parents due to corona.
2. Under this, a lump sum amount of Rs 10 lakh will be given from the PM Cares Fund when the children turn 23 years old.
3. Free education will be given to these children by the central government.
4. Under this, children will get loan for higher education, the interest of which will be given from PM Cares Fund.
5. These children will get health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh for 18 years under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
6. The premium of insurance will be filled from PM Cares Fund.
7. Children below the age of ten years will be admitted to the nearest central school or private school.
8. Children who are between 11 to 18 years will be admitted to any residential school of the Central Government like Sainik School and Navodaya Vidyalaya.
9. If the child lives with his guardian or any other family member, then he will also get admission in the nearest Kendriya Vidyalaya or private school.
10. If the child is enrolled in a private school, then under the Right to Education Act, his fees will be given from the PM Cares Fund and the expenses of his school uniform, books and copies will also be paid.
