At yesterday’s meeting with chief ministers, Prime Minister Modi had indicated that a more graded lockdown relaxation could be on the way after after the third phase ends on May 17.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 8 pm today, the Prime Minister’s Office has said. The address comes a day after the prime minister held his fifth video-conference with chief ministers of states regarding the coronavirus pandemic.
At yesterday’s meeting, where he spoke with chief ministers, PM Modi had indicated that a more graded lockdown relaxation could be on the way after after the third phase ends on May 17.
Economic activities are picking up pace in many parts of the country and that the process will be expedited further in the days to come, Modi had said.
The announcement was made via the PMO’s Twitter handle.

This will be the Prime Minister’s fourth special address to the nation in the last two months.
India was put on a 21-day lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus. The announcement of complete lockdown was made by PM Modi on March 24.
Covid-positive cases in the country surged past the 70,000-mark, with over 20,000 cases being reported in just a week since lockdown restrictions were eased in some parts.
