The central government is working on a plan to provide free electricity in the country soon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced the launch of PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme for free electricity. He said that “For continuous development and well-being of the people, we are launching PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. “This project, with an investment of over Rs 75,000 crore, aims to light 1 crore homes by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.”
What is the government’s plan?
The government is planning to provide up to 300 units of free electricity to the people under this scheme, for which actual subsidy will be given which will be sent directly to the bank accounts of the people. Apart from this, the government will also provide heavily subsidized bank loans, so that there is no cost burden on the people. All stakeholders will be linked to a national online portal which will provide further convenience. This is a kind of solar energy scheme, under which people will be encouraged to install solar energy panels on their rooftops.
The PM said that “to popularize this scheme at the grassroots level, urban local bodies and panchayats will be encouraged to promote rooftop solar systems in their jurisdiction. Also, this scheme will help in generating more income, less electricity The bill will create employment for more people.”
How to apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana?
A portal has been started by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for this scheme – https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in/ You can go to it and get other information related to the scheme. Here we are telling you how to apply under the scheme. You will have to register yourself for this.
Step 1:
First of all select your state and name of electricity and distribution company. And then enter your electricity consumer number, mobile number and email.
Step 2:
Login by entering your consumer number and mobile. Apply for rooftop solar panels as per the steps mentioned in the form.
Step 3:
Once you get feasibility approval, you can get the plant installed from any vendor registered with your electricity distribution company (DISCOM).
Step 4:
After the installation is complete, you will have to apply for a net meter with the details of the plant.
Step 5:
After installation of the net meter and verification by the electricity distribution company, a commissioning certificate will be issued to you from the portal.
Step 6:
After receiving the commissioning report, you will have to submit bank account details and canceled check through the portal. You will get the subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.
