The insurance scheme for health workers affected by Govt disease has been extended for another 180 days. So far 1351 people have benefited under this scheme.
The government’s initiative for an insurance scheme for health workers was launched on March 30, 2020, as the Govt epidemic wreaked havoc across the country. It provides a comprehensive personal insurance cover of 22.12 50 lakh people, including community health workers and private health workers who have been in direct contact and care of Covid-19 patients.
Under this scheme Rs. 50 lakhs will be provided to the family of the affected health worker as personal accident insurance.
As the term of this insurance was due to end on October 20, 2021, the insurance plan has now been extended for another 180 days. “Insurance has been extended as the Govt-19 epidemic has not yet subsided and the deaths of health workers assigned to Govt-related duties continue in various states / Union Territories.
The Central Government has extended the scheme to ensure the continued protection of the dependents of the health workers assigned to care for Covit-19 patients, ”the Government of India said in an official statement.
