PMJAY: To get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh, senior citizens will have to get 'Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card' made... know how to get it made?

PMJAY: The announcement to bring the elderly of 70 years and above under the ambit of Ayushman Bharat Yojana was made by the government a few months ago. It has been officially launched on Tuesday on the occasion of Dhanvantari Jayanti and 9th Ayurveda Day.

PMJAY: Now eligible elderly can take advantage of this scheme. But to take advantage of this, they will have to get a card made. This card will be called ‘Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card’. After getting the card made, the elderly will be able to avail health insurance of Rs 5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Here understand the things related to this scheme which are important for you to know.

Every elderly of 70 years and above will get the benefit

The government has not kept any income or other parameter for the elderly. Every elderly of 70 years or above can take advantage of this scheme. ‘Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card’ will be a shared health cover, that is, if there is an elderly couple, then there will be a total health coverage of Rs 5 lakh for both. If someone in the family is already included in the Ayushman Bharat scheme and there is an elderly person above 70 years of age in his family, then that elderly person will get separate coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh.

Government employees will get this option

Those elderly people of 70 years or more who are retired from the central or state government and are already taking advantage of any other health insurance scheme like CGHS/SGHS, ECHS, ESCI etc., will get the option to remain with their old scheme or choose this new cover of Ayushman Bharat.

How will the Ayushman card be made

Now talking about the issue, how to get the Ayushman card made? For this, you have to go to the official website https://nha.gov.in/PM-JAY. Here you will get the option of PMJAY For 70+. On clicking on this, you will have to go to Enroll For PMJAY For 70+ and enroll. If the beneficiary is enrolling himself, then he will have to choose the Beneficiary option and log in by entering the required details like mobile number, captcha etc. On the other hand, if a family member is enrolling an elderly person, then he will have to log in by choosing the Operator option and after this, information about Family ID and Aadhaar etc. will have to be given and the process of e-KYC will have to be completed. After completing this process, you can download the Ayushman card and get it printed.

You can also do this work through the app

You can also do this work by installing the Ayushman App in the mobile. Install and open the app. After this, go to Select Language below and select the language. Will every elderly person in the family get 5 lakh coverage?

No, 5 lakh health coverage is given on a family basis. In such a situation, you have to enroll the first family member of 70 years of age or above and after that you can add the rest of the elderly in the family who are 70 years or above by giving their names and details. But remember that all the elderly in the family who are enrolled in it, will come under this 5 lakh coverage. Not everyone will get a coverage of 5 lakh each separately. Meaning the annual limit of 5 lakh will be shared among them as part of the same family.
