55 lakh people to avail Pradhan Mantri Fishing Estate Scheme
The government’s Pradhan Mantri Fish Estates scheme is going to benefit 55 lakh people of the country. The scheme will promote fisheries across the country. Under the scheme, the government will also launch Fish Brood Bank at Sitamarhi in Bihar and Aquatic Disease Referral Laboratory at Kishanganj. With the help of this scheme, the government aims to increase the production of fish in the country to about 70 lakh tonnes in the year 2024-25.
The government is running a target of earning Rs 1 lakh crore with the help of the scheme. With the help of this scheme, additional fish production of 70 lakh tonnes will be produced in the next 5 years.
