Punjab National Bank (PNB) has warned its customers against taking information about ATM/bank branches, and customer care numbers from unverified sources. They must go to official sources for such information. The bank, in a notification, said that some miscreants are changing bank branch/ATM address on Google maps and unregulated websites. The information from unverified sources may put the customers in peril. Therefore, while searching for bank-related information, people should go to the official sources.

“Of late, instances are noticed where the miscreants are fraudulently changing the bank branch/ATM/customer care support number, etc, on Google Maps/unregulated websites,” the bank notification said.

“To avoid landing on such information, please do not search for Punjab National Bank Branch/ATM/Customer support numbers from Google, Twitter, Yahoo, or Facebook sites,” the notification said. The bank said that for any information related to the bank, people should visit the bank’s official website – https://www.pnbindia.in/ – on a secured browser.

The customers also should not respond to unverified phone calls, which claimed to be from the bank or its branch, the bank tweeted on its account. There are many instances when people have been fleeced by online pimp stars. Online transactions should always be done from the secured browser so that the personal information is not revealed to others.

One must not reveal any information regarding the bank account to any person to prevent theft. Following these simple steps, customers can safeguard themselves from big frauds. Online information from unverified sources is often misleading.
