Punjab National Bank has alerted customers through social media platforms to update their KYC as soon as possible. In the post shared by PNB, it is written that, ‘As per RBI guidelines, KYC update is mandatory for all customers, failure to update KYC within the stipulated deadline may result in restrictions on bank account operations and any kind of transactions may be affected.
In the alert issued by PNB, it has been said that those customers whose KYC is not updated by March 31, can get this work done by visiting any nearest branch till April 10. But if any customer does not get KYC done even after this deadline, then action can be taken on that account by the bank.
Why is it necessary to update KYC?
KYC in simple language means ‘Know your customer process’ and it has a lot of importance in the banking system. It is helpful in confirming the identity and address of bank customers. Apart from this, having all the information related to the customers available with the banks helps in controlling any kind of financial fraud. In such a situation, those people who have not updated their accounts by 31st March must get their account KYC done by 10th April.
PNB has also alerted customers about the scam (PNB Security Alert) and advised them not to click or download any link or file received from an unidentified source and to immediately report any fake call or SMS.
In this way you can get this work related to the account done
It is very easy to update the KYC of bank accounts and PNB has provided many options to the customers to do this work. Under this, PNB customers can go to any nearest bank branch (PNB Bank Branch) and submit the personal documents required for this process. Apart from this, KYC can be updated online through PNB One or internet banking. Along with this, the bank is also providing the facility to submit KYC documents through post in its main branch.
In such a situation, if your account falls within the prescribed limit, then it is right to complete the KYC update process without waiting for the last date of April 10. In case of not doing so, the bank can ban the operations of your account, after which you may face a problem in transactions (Bank Transactions Problem).
