- The age of the franchisee should be above 18 years.
- Any Indian citizen can take a post office franchise.
- The person taking the franchise must have 8th pass certificate from a recognized school.
- To apply for the franchise, one has to first fill the form and submit it.
- On getting selected one should sign an MoU with India Post.
How much is the commission decided in the MoU?
- Rs.3 on booking of registered items
- Rs.5 on booking of Speed Post articles
- Rs.3.50 on money order booking from Rs.100 to Rs.200 Rs.5 on money order above Rs.200
- Additional commission of 20% on more than 1000 bookings of Registry and Speed Post every month
- 5% of the sale amount on the sale of postage stamps, postal stationery and money order forms
- 40% of the income earned by the Department of Posts on retail services including sale of revenue stamps, central recruitment fee stamps etc.
How to Apply for Post Office Franchisee?
- Applicants must submit an application form in a defined format along with a business plan describing the activities to be carried out in the franchise outlet.
- The application form can be obtained from the post office and needs to be submitted along with copies of detailed proposals which will include operations of the franchisee outlet. The application form can also be downloaded from the official website of the Department of Posts, Government of India.
- After submitting the form, the selected franchisee will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOA) with the department.
- The final selection for the Post Office Franchisee Scheme will be done by the respective Divisional Head within 14 days from the date of submission of the form.
