The postal department will deliver the photo voter ID card to your home through speed post. For this, an agreement has been signed between the Department of Posts and the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The Department of Posts (DOP) has been a strong pillar of communication of the country for more than 150 years and has played an important role in the social and economic development of the country. It is related to the lives of Indian citizens in many ways. Such as delivery of mail, accepting deposits under small savings schemes, providing life insurance cover under Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) and providing retail services like bill submission, sale of forms.
The Department of Posts also acts as an agent for the Government of India in discharging other services like wage distribution and old age pension payment under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA). Now in this sequence the post office has tied up with the Election Commission. In which the postman will deliver the voter ID card containing the photo to your home.
Voting ID card will reach your home now – Postal Department will deliver the photo voter ID card to your home through speed post . For this, an agreement has been signed between the Department of Posts and the Election Commission of India (ECI). In the initial phase, the Election Commission will provide 6-7 crore Election or Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) for delivery through Speed Post. Due to which there will be an income of about Rs 100 crore in a year.
Postman to be equipped with mobile app – Postman mobile app implemented in 1.43 lakh post offices including 98,454 post offices in rural areas . Real time delivery status of 475 crore mails and registered articles generated by Speed Post from January to October, 2021 through Postman Mobile App. Also 98% of letter boxes across the country are connected to the departmental post offices which are covered under electronic clearance through mobile app named “Nanyatha”.
The Department of Posts operates more than 29.29 crore active Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) accounts through 1.56 lakh post offices across the country. Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) schemes have an outstanding balance of Rs 12,56,073 crore. In all, 1.67 crore new accounts were opened and Rs 4.71 lakh crore was deposited, about 3.48 lakh crore was withdrawn and thus about Rs 8.19 lakh crore was transacted in CBS (Core Banking Service) post offices. As a result, 51.45 lakh new accounts were opened and a net amount of Rs 1,22,851 crore was deposited in CBS Post Offices since April, 2021.
