How many farmers got the benefit of insurance till now in Madhya Pradesh

On the basis of information received from the media, during the lockdown in the year 2020 by the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government of Madhya Pradesh, 15 lakh farmers of the state were paid the sum insured amount of 2990 crores of crop insurance directly in their accounts. According to the information, in 2018, 35 lakh farmers of the state had got their Kharif crops insured. Out of them 8.40 lakh farmers got insurance amount of Rs.1930 crore. Similarly, in Rabi 2018-19, Rabi crops were insured by 25 lakh farmers of the state, out of which 6.60 lakh farmers got an insurance amount of Rs.1060 crore. Despite this, farmers are showing less interest in insuring the Kharif crop this year. In view of this, the state government has extended the last date of crop insurance so that in case of damage to crops due to natural calamity, the farmers can be compensated for the loss.

Why it is important to insure crops

In PM Fasal Bima Yojana, the risk from sowing to harvesting is covered. Agricultural Insurance Company of India (AIC or AIC) runs this scheme. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana provides financial protection from many risks from sowing of crops till post-harvest. Therefore, farmer brothers must get their crops insured so that the loss due to natural calamities can be compensated.

How farmers can take benefit of crop insurance

Forms can be taken to apply for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana both offline and online. If you want to take the form offline, then you can fill the form of crop insurance scheme by visiting your nearest bank branch. To fill the online form, you can fill it from the website of PMFBI. What are the documents required to apply for crop insurance

To get crop insurance, you need to have agricultural land document, land possession certificate, Aadhar card, first page – bank passbook with bank account details, crop sowing certificate (if mandatory in the state government notification) Is. Apart from this, the benefit of insurance facility is also given to sharecroppers or those cultivating on rented land. It is mandatory for such persons to give agreement, rent or lease document with the land owner. In this situation, it must be kept in mind that the photocopy of the copy of the agreement must be taken with the field in which the sowing has been done. The account/khasra number of the farm should be clearly written in this paper. A canceled check is required to get the money directly into your bank account.

When to fill the form for crop insurance

You are required to fill the form of Prime Minister’s crop insurance within 10 days of sowing the crop. Even if your crop is damaged due to natural calamity between 14 days from harvest, you can still take advantage of the insurance scheme.

Which Kharif crops can be insured

In Kharif crops, jowar, bajra, maize, moong, urad, tur, gram and soybean, besides til, paddy, kaps, moth and groundnut have been included in the list of crop insurance. Farmers can take advantage of the above crops in Kharif season by insuring them.

At what rate is the premium for crop insurance

Farmers have to pay a premium of 2 per cent for Kharif crops and 1.5 per cent for Rabi crops. The premium rate has been kept at 5 per cent for annual, commercial and horticultural crops. The rest of the amount is done there by the government. Explain that under the insurance scheme, the
government gives more than 80 percent of the amount as subsidy.

Farmers can also change the insured crop if they want

If a farmer wants to change the crop already decided, he has to inform his bank for the change at least two days before the last date. The farmer who does not have KCC can get his crop insured from the customer service center or the representative of the insurance company.

How to get the benefit of crop insurance

Damage for local calamities and post-harvest losses will be assessed on the basis of the individual insured agriculture level and hence the loss information is required to be recorded by the farmer/designated agencies. The farmer will have to inform the insurance company, the concerned bank, the local agriculture department, government / district authorities or through our toll free number (1800 200 7710) or on the National Crop Insurance Portal within 72 hours. An additional 24 hours will be required to inform the agency/department for registering with the insurance company concerned. After this, after assessing the crop loss on behalf of the insurance company, the payment of the sum insured will be ensured.
