New Delhi: After nearly 150 years of legal battle, the construction of Sriram Temple has once again overshadowed the court hearing. Activist Saket Gokhale, an NGO close to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, has sent a petition to the Allahabad High Court seeking a ban on the proposed Bhoomi Pujan on August 5. Gokhale says how Bhoomi Pujan can take place when mass prayers are not allowed at Bakad. Gokhale said Bhoomi Pujan could increase the risk of corona infection.
The Ayodhya Pilgrim Area Trust had set the date of August 3 or 5 after the meeting. The trust had invited PM Modi to perform Bhoomi Pujan, which he accepted. PM Modi is on his way to Ayodhya on August 5 to perform Bhoomi Pujan of Sriram Temple. He will stay in Ayodhya from 11 am to 1 pm. The auspicious muhurat of 12:15 pm has been fixed for bhoomi pujan of the temple. Around 300 people including Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will be present in Ayodhya to witness this historic occasion.
A major controversy has begun even before the PM goes to Ayodhya. Saket Gokhale, an NGO-run activist, has sent a letter to the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court. Gokhale urged the letter to be considered as a PIL and said that this Bhoomi Pujan is a violation of the unlock-2 rules of the central government. The UP government cannot relax the Central Rules. Gokhale said that mass prayers were also not allowed at Bakad. How can Bhoomi Pujan be allowed? He also expressed fears of corona infection.
