PUC Certificate: Whether you are riding in a car or on a bike, along with Driving License, Insurance (Motor Insurance) and RC, you are also required to carry the Pollution Certificate of the vehicle.
Delhi Government has clearly said that if you do not have Pollution Control Certificate while driving, then strict action will be taken against you. Along with the fine, your driving license can also be suspended and that too for three months. With the license being suspended, you may also have to face jail air.
Delhi Transport Department (Delhi Parivahan) has said in a public notice that the actions to be taken if vehicle owners are caught without a valid PUC certificate are imprisonment up to six months or a fine of up to Rs 10,000 or both.
In Delhi itself, if there is no pollution certificate in other places also, you may have to pay a heavy fine (pollution certificate fine). So keep checking the pollution certificate of your car or bike from time to time and get a new certificate issued when the time comes. And drive your vehicles only with valid Pollution Control Certificate.
As per the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, every vehicle including vehicles running on CNG or LPG is required to have a valid PUC certificate.
Vehicles are regularly checked for polluting substances such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. After the test, a pollution test certificate is given.
In Delhi, now the pollution certificate has been made real time. Now you have to give your registered mobile number while getting the pollution test done. This mobile number has been linked with the database of vehicle registration. As soon as your pollution certificate expires, messages start coming to your mobile number.
There are more than 900 pollution checking centers registered by the Transport Department in Delhi.
Get Pollution Test for One Year (PUC Certificate For One Year)
Earlier, the pollution test of vehicles was done for three months, but now this has been increased to one year. The special thing is that for one year pollution certificate, you do not have to pay any separate charge. The charge that you pay for three months’ pollution certificate, you can take one year’s certificate in the same charge. Pollution certificate of two wheeler can be obtained for Rs 70 and car for Rs 100.
Keep in mind that the one-year pollution certificate is valid only for BS-IV and above vehicles. Only 3 months certificate is given for vehicles before that.
