New Delhi: PUC Certificate Mandatory: Very soon, Pollution Control Certificate (PUC) will be made mandatory for refueling at petrol pumps. Otherwise, petrol and diesel will not be given to the drivers. During this time, the vehicles whose PUC certificate will be found expired, the drivers will have to issue it at the pump itself.

This decision has been taken with the aim of curbing air pollution. With the help of this, it will help to keep the pollution level of each vehicle under check. This arrangement will remain at all petrol pumps in Delhi.

According to a statement issued by the office of Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai, PUC will soon become a requirement for refueling vehicles at all petrol pumps in Delhi. North India including Delhi faces severe air pollution especially in winters. This is a very ambitious policy being brought by the Delhi government.

Under this, it will be mandatory for the drivers to have PUC to fill fuel in the vehicles. This revolutionary step has been taken so that polluting vehicles should not ply in Delhi and its residents can enjoy clean air. Gopal Rai has said that a draft policy in this regard will be put up for public opinion before being notified.

Reena Gupta, advisor to the environment minister, said the decision reaffirms the commitment of the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal government to ensure clean air for all citizens.

966 Centers in Delhi

Pollution Control Certificate (PUC) is an important tool issued through registered PUC centers indicating the emission level of vehicles. There are about 966 such centers in Delhi which are spread over 10 different regions. These centers play a vital role in monitoring vehicular pollution and certifying the fitness of vehicles as per emission norms.
