Additional income of Rs 41,000 crore
In fact, according to the data released by the Ministry of Railways in the past, the Railways has earned a bumper in the current financial year. Railways have made an additional income of Rs 41,000 crore on an annual basis till January in the year 2022-23.
According to the data released by the Railways last month, a total revenue of Rs 1,91,162 crore has been received. In the same period a year ago, this figure was Rs 1,48,970 crore. Railways is running with an expectation of a total revenue of Rs 2,35,000 crore in 2022-23.
Will the discount on railway fare start again?
In the last days, such figures have been presented twice by the Railways. In such a situation, it is expected that with the increase in earnings, the Railways can restore the exemption given to senior citizens.
The demand for reintroducing the concession on railway tickets to senior citizens before Corona has started intensifying. However, on the demand of exemption in fare, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said in the past that 55 percent subsidy is already being given by the Railways.
