Necessary devices will be installed
According to the Ministry of Railways, during fog, if the train is going to an area where there is fog, then fog safe devices will be provided to the train drivers (Loco Pilots). The ministry has asked the railway zones to maintain the supply of detonators. The ministry has asked to install detonating signal (also known as detonator or fog signal). When a train passes over this signal, it explodes. Its purpose is only to attract the attention of the driver. Apart from this, it has been asked to do lime marking on the site board of the track. It glows when the lime marking light is on.
Visibility will be taken care of
On this matter, the Ministry of Railways also said in its statement that all signal viewing boards, whistle boards, fog signal posts and crossing gates which are very busy, where the possibility of accident is high, should be painted. Yellow and black colored luminous strips should be applied on them. Apart from this, keeping in mind the correct visibility, if there is a need for repair, then that too should be done. The ministry said that this work should be done before the onset of fog.
Instructions to train drivers to control speed
Further, the Ministry of Railways also asked the train driver to follow all precautions during fog. If the driver feels that the visibility is less during the fog, then he can run the train at the speed at which he wants to run so that he can stop the train in case of any problem. The ministry further said that this speed should not exceed the speed of 75 kilometers per hour under any condition.
