new Delhi. Indian Railways said on Monday that the average fare per person in Shramik Special Train was Rs 600. About 6 million workers were transported to their destination by these trains which were run from May 1. This earned revenue of about 360 crores rupees.
Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav said that Indian Railways ran 4,450 laborers special trains so far to take the migrant laborers to their destination.
60 lakh workers have reached home so far
Yadav said, “The average fare for Shramik Special train was Rs 600 per passenger. This mail is the normal fare for express train and not the high fare for special train. Through these trains, we transported about 60 lakh people to their destination. Only about 15 percent of the cost incurred on their operations was recovered. Whereas 85 percent of the amount was borne by the central government. “The official said that the operating cost of a migrant labor train is about 75 to 80 lakh rupees.
Yadav said that most migrant laborers have reached their destination. There are very few workers who now want to go back to their homes.
Labor trains will still be operated.
He said that we are coordinating with the state governments also for the remaining migrant laborers. We had asked them to state the demand of trains according to their requirement by June 3. Till now we have been asked to provide 171 workers special trains.

Yadav said, “Till June 14, we operated 222 laborers special trains. After the Supreme Court order, we have again asked the state governments to demand their additional trains. As long as there is a demand from the states, we will continue to operate the train. “The Chairman of the Railway Board reiterated that these trains were operated at a center-state participation of 85-15 percent.
