Railways New Announcement: Under the new system of Railways, only passengers with confirmed reservations will be allowed to go to the platform. Passengers with waiting tickets and those without tickets will have to wait in the waiting area outside. Apart from this, all unauthorized entry points of the stations will be sealed.

Indian Railways New Rule: Recently, 18 people lost their lives in the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station. Railways is working seriously to prevent such an accident in future. In view of this, Indian Railways has decided to allow entry to the platform only to passengers with confirmed tickets at 60 busy stations. Railways hopes that this step will prevent overcrowding on the platforms. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav held a meeting with officials on Friday and directed to implement necessary measures to control the crowd at major stations across the country.

Unauthorized entry points will also be sealed

Under these measures, permanent waiting areas will be created outside 60 busy stations and entry to the platform will be restricted. Railways made it clear that now complete access control will be implemented at these 60 stations. Only passengers with confirmed reservations will be allowed to go to the platform. Those with waiting tickets and those without tickets will wait in the waiting area outside.

All unauthorized entry points of stations will also be sealed. Bengaluru station has also been included in the list of 60 stations.

Pilot project started from these stations

This scheme has been implemented as a pilot project at some stations first. The stations where this scheme is being started include New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Varanasi, Ayodhya and Patna railway stations. Under the scheme, the sudden crowd will be stopped in the waiting area. Passengers will be allowed to go to the platform only when the train is about to arrive. This will avoid unnecessary crowd in the station premises and will facilitate the movement of people.

Decision came after the stampede at New Delhi station

This decision has been taken after the incident in which 18 people died in a stampede due to excessive crowd on the platform at New Delhi railway station. In the festive season of the year 2024, waiting areas were created outside Surat, Udhna, Patna and New Delhi railway stations, which helped in controlling the crowd on the platform. A similar system was also implemented at 9 railway stations during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. This helped a lot in managing the crowd. Now it has been decided to implement this system at other stations.

Foot over bridges will also be wide

As a step to control the crowd, the railways have taken another step to control the crowd. Under this, wide foot over bridges (FOBs) of new design will be built. These bridges will be 12 meters (40 feet) and 6 meters (20 feet) wide. Such bridges proved to be very effective during Kumbh. Keeping in mind the safety of passengers, the railways have decided to increase the number of CCTV cameras. Cameras will be installed at all 60 railway stations and their surrounding areas. ‘War rooms’ will be created at big stations to control the crowd. The joint team will stay in these war rooms and keep an eye on the situation.

New identity and uniform of railway staff

New ID cards will be made for staff and service persons. New dress codes will be implemented, so that the staff can be identified immediately in case of crisis. A senior officer will be appointed as station director at major railway stations. The station director will be given financial powers so that he can take immediate decisions and improve the situation. He will be able to control ticket sales according to the capacity of the station and the status of available trains.
